Hi, my name is Carrie Gallegos, and I am a proud Kaplan University graduate! In May 2008, I had the honor to accept my B.S. in Business Accounting. After finishing high school, I attended a traditional style college campus. After 2 years of extensive study, an unpredictable life change, and no realistic career direction, I left to pursue the work field. It didn't take me long to realize the importance of aspirations, goals, and the value of a great education.

While on the job, I gained a strong interest in the business aspect of operations. Although I acquired all the proper skills, I simply could not advance further than a technical position. I decided to return to school, but needed flexibility. I was now a wife, a mother of 3 children, and a working adult in my late 20's. My search ended with a resolution: online college.

It took a few searches to narrow down accredited, reputable schools. My sister suggested I check out Kaplan University. I am certainly glad I made that first phone call. I enrolled in just short of two weeks, started classes in less than a month, and Kaplan shipped all books and materials directly to me. No more worries of going to the bookstore or waiting in long lines. In addition, the school counselors were very informative, realistic, but most importantly, flexible. I took classes that fit my schedule, attended online lectures, and participated in group activities. I have to say I have enjoyed all my professors as they have encouraged me to strive harder and to use my strengths to obtain my goals. The best part of a Kaplan education, is learning about yourself and about your potentials.

Four years later I have grown into a more confident, professional, and educated individual. I have learned how to utilize my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. In addition, I understand the importance of communication, teamwork, dedication, and motivation. I am currently seeking an internship in my field and am very hopeful for future success. My plan is to make an important contribution to society.
