My name is Kiana Barnes. I enjoy being a stay-at-home mother of five awesome children. Attending Strayer University online has been a very rewarding opportunity for me and my family. For the last three years or so, I have been able to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing. I have been able to take small strides toward reaching my educational goals, by taking a few classes at a time, based on my availability. I have an expected graduation date of June 2010, and I am so excited to be on the final stretch. The online class structure is perfect for my busy schedule. I can log onto all my classes, chat with professors, talk with classmates, submit all assignments and check my grades with the click of the mouse.

Being able to attend class on a physical campus wasn't an option for me. I knew I needed to meet the needs of my family; however, I wanted to complete my education while doing so. I couldn't seem to visualize having to be in a classroom setting, which would have meant missing the kids' sports and other activities. Before 2004 I had never heard of online education. I was unsure how it worked or if it was for me. After meeting with a representative and completing the simple admission process, I quickly realized that it was the right choice for me. I love the fact that my family has been able to share my success with me through my educational journey while attending Strayer University Online. The best part about Strayer University Online is the wide variety of courses that are available. Advisors are always available via phone, email, or in person to guide you in the right direction when selecting courses. This meant a lot to me when I found myself unsure of what classes to take during a particular quarter.

My most memorable experience in an online class at Strayer was a senior seminar business class that I took. The class required us to participate in a business simulation within teams managing various companies created by the simulation program. This was a great experience to actually manage a company--having conference calls and brainstorming ideas with classmates. This business course gave me an insight to operating a business, as well as the ups and downs of managing a business. Courses like these are effective and beneficial in any field of business.

Strayer University has allowed me to continue my education online while working around me and my family's busy schedules. Having the ability to log into my classes, participate in live chats, and submit assignments directly to my professors is perfect for me. Earning my degree is very important to me, and I am so glad that I chose Strayer University's online program to help me reach my educational goals. The professional and courteous faculty and staff are always available to answer questions with convenient office hours. If you think you're not too computer savvy, the awesome technical support team is always a phone call away to assist you. I have enjoyed every aspect of attending Strayer University, the information that I have learned will allow me to be successful in the business industry and beyond.
